[ He has to at least try. That was his answer to himself, that even if it was hypocritical and not his own ideal... that the ideal was beautiful, and therefore worth pursuing. He'd accepted that he couldn't save everyone, but he had still resolved to try.
But it was considerably harder to put into practice in a place like this... and it frustrated him to no end.
